As of this year, our office is richer for the Octopus 900 device, which is used for computer recording of the visual field. The device is the latest generation of the renowned Swiss company Hagg-Streit.

At the same time, this device allows both static and dynamic perimetry. Thanks to the special Goldman dome, it is possible to completely peripherally test the field of view up to 90 ° temporally, up and nasally up to 60 ° and down up to 70 °.

In addition, there are two unique programs based on physiology: the G-program (30 ° field for glaucoma testing) and the M-program (10 ° field for macular analysis). Both programs are linked to a map of nerve fiber bundles and thus allow testing of the most important points for correlation of structure-functions. These testing programs offer a higher density of stimuli in the center, which allows the detection of paracentral blind spots that are often not detected by the usual program 32.

With the Octopus 900, kinetic vectors can be defined with all available characteristics as with a manual Goldman perimeter. In addition, user-defined programs allow you to achieve fast and repeatable results when defining standard isopters (contours) and blind spot mapping.

The Octopus 900 automatically detects loss of fixation and adapts to patients until optimal test conditions are achieved.

With the Octopus Blink Control function, any stimulus at static perimeter will never be missed. Stimuli interrupted by the patient’s blinking are automatically repeated later during the examination. This means that each stimulus location will be tested reliably.
